Is it normal to be obsessed with a friend?
It’s normal to think about a friend a lot, especially when you’re close, excited about the friendship, or catching feelings. It’s worth paying attention if the fixation is taking over your life or making you ignore their boundaries.
A friend can take up a surprising amount of space in your head. You might miss them, replay conversations, or look forward to seeing them constantly; sometimes that’s just a close friendship, and sometimes there’s a crush mixed in. Lots of people have felt this way at some point.
The useful question is whether it still feels good and leaves room for the rest of your life. If you’re checking up on them constantly, feeling possessive, or getting upset when they’re busy, try to give them space and put some attention back into your other relationships and interests. Strong feelings are human; your friend still gets to have their own time and boundaries.
