Is it normal to be obsessed with your best friend?
It’s normal to feel intensely close to your best friend and think about them a lot. It’s worth checking in with yourself if the intensity turns into possessiveness, pressure, or taking over your life.
Best friends can become a huge part of your world, so wanting to tell them everything, missing them when they’re busy, or feeling a little jealous sometimes isn’t unusual. Sometimes “obsessed” also means you’ve developed a crush, or you’re leaning on the friendship especially heavily right now.
The line to watch is whether you’re respecting their space and still making room for your own life. If you feel driven to monitor them, demand constant attention, or get furious when they spend time with other people, try to ease up and make space for other friends and interests. Big feelings are human; your friend still gets to have boundaries.
