Is it normal to be obsessed with your partner?
Feeling intensely focused on your partner can be normal, especially early in a relationship. It’s worth paying attention if it takes over your life or leads you to ignore their boundaries or your own.
When you’re falling hard for someone, it’s pretty common to think about them constantly, want lots of time together, and feel giddy about every text. That intensity often settles as the relationship becomes more familiar.
The word “obsessed” can also mean something less fun: you can’t focus on anything else, feel panicked when they’re unavailable, keep tabs on them, or pressure them for attention. Those behaviors can strain the relationship, even if the feelings behind them are understandable.
A good gut check: are you still making room for friends, interests, and time apart—and respecting your partner’s privacy and boundaries? If not, slowing down and talking honestly about what’s going on may help.
