Is it normal to cry during a massage?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes, crying during a massage can happen, even if you weren’t expecting it. Relaxation, stress, or a tender spot can bring emotions to the surface, and you don’t have to explain yourself.
A massage can make you feel physically and emotionally relaxed, and sometimes that’s when feelings you’ve been holding in spill out. A tender or uncomfortable spot can also make you tear up. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you, and massage therapists have seen people react in all sorts of ways.
If it happens, you can let the therapist know, ask for a pause, or change the pressure—whatever feels right. You don’t owe them an explanation, and you can stop the massage at any time.
