Is it normal to dislike a parent?
Yep.Totally normal
Yes. You can dislike a parent—or parts of your relationship with them—even if you also love them, depend on them, or feel guilty about it.
Parents aren’t automatically people you’ll like just because they’re your parents. If one is critical, unreliable, controlling, or simply hard to get along with, resentment or dislike can make sense. And sometimes the relationship is complicated: you may care about them while not enjoying their company.
You don’t have to force warm feelings or pretend everything is fine. It’s okay to set boundaries and decide what kind of contact feels manageable. What matters is how you handle the feeling, not whether you have it.
