Is it normal to fight often in a relationship?
Disagreements are normal, but frequent fights that keep repeating or leave you feeling hurt and on edge are worth paying attention to. What matters is whether you can talk things through and repair the damage afterward.
Most couples argue sometimes, especially when they’re stressed or tackling a recurring issue. But if nearly every conversation turns into a fight, or you keep having the same argument without anything changing, that can wear you both down.
Pay attention to how you fight as much as how often: can you listen, take a break, apologize, and come back to the problem? Insults, threats, controlling behavior, or feeling afraid aren’t just ordinary relationship friction. If you’re stuck in the same cycle, a calm conversation—or help from a couples counselor—may help you figure out what needs to change.
