Is it normal to hate the way you look?
It’s common to dislike your appearance sometimes, especially when you’re stressed or comparing yourself with others. If hating how you look is constant or is shrinking your life, you deserve support with it—not just pressure to “love yourself.”
A lot of people have days when they pick apart their appearance or wish they looked different. That feeling can get louder with stress, low confidence, or endless comparison with edited photos and other people’s highlight reels. It doesn’t mean there’s actually something wrong with how you look.
There’s a difference between occasional insecurity and feeling consumed by it. If these thoughts are making you avoid people, mirrors, photos, or things you enjoy, or are affecting how you eat or care for yourself, consider talking it through with someone you trust or a mental health professional. You don’t have to wait until it feels “serious enough” to ask for help.
