Is it normal to join a cult?

Depends.It depends

It’s human to be drawn to a group that offers belonging, purpose, or certainty. Whether joining is harmless depends less on the group’s beliefs and more on how much control it has over your choices and relationships.

People can get involved gradually, often because a group feels welcoming or answers questions they’ve been wrestling with. That doesn’t mean they’re foolish; high-pressure groups can be good at building trust and making commitment feel like the natural next step.

“Cult” gets used loosely, so look at the behavior: Does the group isolate you from loved ones, punish questions, demand money or total obedience, or make it hard to leave? Those are serious warning signs. If you’re involved and feeling pressured, talk privately with someone you trust outside the group and give yourself room to decide without being rushed.
