Is it normal to laugh when people get hurt?
Depends.It depends
Laughing when someone gets hurt can be a reflex to surprise or nervousness, especially when it’s a minor mishap. It’s different from enjoying someone’s real pain or laughing when they’re seriously hurt.
A sudden stumble or harmless bump can trigger laughter before you’ve even decided how you feel. Surprise, awkwardness, and nerves can all come out as a laugh, and lots of people have had that embarrassing reaction.
The situation matters, though. If someone is seriously hurt, check whether they’re okay rather than treating it like a joke. And if you find yourself enjoying their pain or deliberately humiliating them, that’s worth reflecting on—but an awkward reflex by itself doesn’t mean you lack empathy.
