Is it normal to lie when you're drunk?
Mostly.Normal for most people
It’s not unusual to lie when you’re drunk: alcohol can lower your inhibitions and mess with your judgment. But being drunk doesn’t make every lie accidental or excuse the hurt it causes.
Alcohol can make you more impulsive, less careful with your words, and worse at weighing consequences. Some people lie to avoid embarrassment, hide what they’ve done, or sound more impressive; others may say things that aren’t true because their memory and thinking are fuzzy. Drunk talk isn’t automatically the truth, either.
So, yes, it happens—but if you keep lying when you drink, or it’s damaging trust, take that seriously. It may help to avoid drinking in situations where you’re tempted to hide something, and to talk about the truth when you’re sober.
