Is it normal to look pregnant at 8 weeks?
It’s common to look bloated at 8 weeks, even though a noticeable baby bump usually hasn’t appeared yet. Hormonal changes, constipation, and gas can make your belly look different from day to day.
At 8 weeks, your uterus is still mostly tucked inside your pelvis, so a visible bump from the pregnancy itself is usually unlikely. But early pregnancy hormones can slow digestion and cause bloating, which can make you look surprisingly round—especially later in the day. If you’ve been pregnant before, your belly may also show earlier.
So yes, looking a little pregnant can be normal, but it may be bloating rather than the baby bump. If the swelling is sudden or severe, or comes with significant pain or bleeding, check in with your healthcare provider.
