Is it normal to not like the newborn stage?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes—it’s normal not to enjoy the newborn stage. You can love your baby and still find the constant care, sleep loss, and uncertainty incredibly hard.
The newborn stage can be relentless: feeding, changing, soothing, and trying to function on broken sleep. Plenty of parents don’t find it magical, and some feel more at ease once their baby is older and routines or communication develop.
Not enjoying this phase doesn’t mean you’re a bad parent or that you won’t bond with your baby. If the hard feelings come with persistent hopelessness, intense anxiety, or thoughts of harming yourself or the baby, tell someone you trust and contact a healthcare professional—you deserve support, not judgment.
