Is it normal to not trust anyone?
It’s understandable to struggle with trust, especially if people have let you down. But feeling unable to trust anyone can be lonely and exhausting, so it may help to explore what’s behind it and take trust one small step at a time.
A lot of people become guarded after being hurt, betrayed, or let down. Sometimes distrust is a way of trying to stay safe; it doesn’t mean you’re broken or that you have to trust people before you’re ready.
At the same time, trusting nobody at all can make close relationships hard and leave you carrying everything alone. You can keep sensible boundaries while letting someone earn your trust gradually—through small, consistent actions rather than one big leap. If this feeling is weighing on you, talking it through with someone you feel relatively safe with can be a good start.
