Is it normal to pee yourself while pregnant?
Yes—small leaks of urine are common during pregnancy, especially when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise. But watery fluid can sometimes be amniotic fluid, so pay attention to how it feels and when it happens.
Pregnancy puts extra pressure on your bladder, and hormones can affect the muscles that help keep urine in. A little leakage is common, especially later in pregnancy, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. A pantyliner and pelvic-floor exercises may help; mention it at your next prenatal visit if it’s bothering you.
If you have a sudden gush or ongoing watery trickle that you’re not sure is urine, contact your maternity care provider promptly, since it could be amniotic fluid. Also check in if you have burning or pain when you pee.
