Is it normal to see undigested quinoa in your stool?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes—seeing a few quinoa grains in your stool now and then is usually normal. Their outer coating can pass through partly intact, especially if you eat a lot of them or they move through your gut quickly.
It can look surprising, but quinoa’s outer coating is high in fiber and may not break down completely during digestion. Eating quickly or not chewing much can make visible bits more likely, too. Lots of people notice pieces of plant foods in their stool from time to time.
If it’s just occasional and you otherwise feel fine, it’s generally nothing to worry about. If you’re regularly seeing undigested food along with ongoing diarrhea, pain, blood, or unexplained weight loss, check in with a healthcare professional.
