Is it normal to stalk people on social media?

Depends.It depends

Casually looking at someone’s public posts or checking their profile is very common. Repeatedly monitoring them, using fake accounts, tracking their whereabouts, or contacting them after they’ve asked you to stop crosses a line.

If by “stalk” you mean looking up a crush, an ex, or someone you just met, you’re in very familiar territory. Social media makes it easy to satisfy curiosity with a quick profile check, and lots of people do it now and then.

It’s different if you’re keeping tabs on someone constantly, digging for private information, making new accounts to get around a block, or showing up where they are. That can invade their privacy and make them feel unsafe. If you notice you can’t stop checking, try muting or blocking their profile and give yourself some distance.
