Is it normal to stalk your ex while in a relationship?

Depends.It depends

Being curious about an ex or checking their public social media now and then is pretty common. Repeatedly monitoring them, contacting them after they’ve asked you to stop, or showing up where they are crosses a line—and can hurt your current relationship too.

If by “stalk” you mean looking at an ex’s public posts occasionally, plenty of people do it, even when they’re happily partnered. Curiosity, nostalgia, or wondering how they’re doing doesn’t automatically mean you want them back.

But if you’re checking constantly, using fake accounts, tracking their location, or finding reasons to contact or confront them, that’s more than casual curiosity. It can invade your ex’s privacy and chip away at trust with your current partner. It may help to ask yourself what you’re hoping to get from checking—and set a boundary, like muting or unfollowing your ex for a while.
