Is it normal to struggle in college?
Yes, struggling in college is normal, even if it looks like everyone else has it figured out. The workload, independence, and life changes can take time to adjust to.
College asks you to manage harder classes, deadlines, money, and everyday life with more independence than many people are used to. It’s common to hit a rough patch, need to change your study habits, or wonder whether you belong there. Other students’ polished-looking updates aren’t the whole story.
Struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing. If you’re stuck, try talking with a professor, academic adviser, tutor, or someone you trust; getting support early can make a real difference. And if the struggle is affecting your well-being or making it hard to function, campus counseling or student support services are there for that too.
