Is it normal to sweat buckets?
Sweating a lot can be normal, especially in heat, during exercise, or if you naturally sweat more than other people. If it happens unexpectedly, disrupts your life, or comes with other symptoms, it’s worth getting checked.
Sweating is your body’s way of cooling down, and some people really do sweat more than others. Heat, exercise, stress, spicy food, and certain medications can all turn the dial up—so “sweat buckets” during a workout or on a hot day isn’t unusual.
If you’re sweating heavily when you’re cool and resting, waking up drenched, or finding it gets in the way of daily life, it’s reasonable to bring it up with a healthcare professional. Get checked sooner if it starts suddenly or comes with symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or a fever.
