Is it normal to want to move back home?
Yes, it’s normal to want to move back home. Missing the comfort of familiar people and routines—or simply deciding that living at home makes more sense right now—doesn’t mean you’ve failed at adulthood.
Home can sound especially appealing when you’re lonely, stressed, dealing with high costs, or just tired of managing everything on your own. Plenty of people move back in with family for a while, and others want to even if they ultimately decide not to.
There’s no single “right” timeline for living independently. The useful question is whether moving back would feel supportive and work for everyone involved; it’s okay to talk through expectations about privacy, chores, money, and how long you might stay. People have different feelings about moving home, but it isn’t automatically a step backward.
