Is it normal to yawn in your sleep?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yawning while you’re truly asleep seems uncommon, but yawning as you’re drifting off or waking up is normal. It can feel like it happened during sleep even if you were briefly awake.
Yawning is more likely around the edges of sleep—while you’re nodding off or just waking up—than during deep sleep. Those brief transitions can be hard to remember, so a yawn may seem to have happened while you were fully asleep.
If someone sees you yawn during the night, it’s usually nothing to worry about. Lots of people yawn when they’re tired or changing between sleep and wakefulness.
