Is it normal to argue so much in a relationship?
Some arguments are normal, but fighting constantly can wear you down and may point to issues that need attention. What matters is whether you can disagree respectfully, repair things afterward, and feel safe with each other.
Couples can argue more during stressful periods or when they have different ways of handling conflict. There isn’t one “normal” number of fights; the pattern matters more than the count. Can you talk things through and make up, or do the same fights keep cycling without anything changing?
Disagreements are one thing; insults, threats, intimidation, controlling behavior, or feeling afraid of your partner are another. If that’s happening, talk to someone you trust and consider getting support. Otherwise, a calm conversation about the recurring issue—or couples counseling if you both want it—can help you figure out what’s underneath the arguments.
