Is it normal to be obsessed with a fictional character?
Yes—getting intensely attached to a fictional character is pretty common. It’s usually harmless as long as it isn’t crowding out your responsibilities, relationships, or enjoyment of real life.
Fictional characters are built to be compelling, and it’s easy to get hooked on their personality, story, or the way they make you feel. Lots of people have a favorite character they think about constantly, gush over, or even develop a crush on; you’re in plentiful company there.
The useful question is whether it’s fun and comforting, or whether it’s starting to take over. If you’re neglecting sleep, responsibilities, or real relationships because of it, that’s a good cue to make a little more room for the rest of your life—not a reason to feel embarrassed.
