Is it normal to be obsessed with your child?
Feeling intensely devoted to your child and thinking about them constantly can be normal, especially when they’re young. It’s worth paying attention if the “obsession” feels distressing or starts taking over your life or theirs.
A lot of parents feel like their child is the center of their universe. You might think about them nonstop, want to protect them from everything, or miss them quickly when you’re apart. That can be especially intense when they’re babies or during a big change.
The key is whether it still leaves room for your own needs and your child’s growing independence. If worry or monitoring feels impossible to switch off, or your child can’t have age-appropriate privacy and freedom, it may help to talk it through with someone you trust or a mental health professional.
