Is it normal to be obsessed with your therapist?

Mostly.Normal for most people

It’s not unusual to feel intensely attached to your therapist or develop a crush. What matters is keeping the relationship within professional boundaries and talking openly about how the feelings are affecting you.

Therapy can involve feeling deeply understood, safe, or cared for—sometimes in a way you haven’t experienced elsewhere. That can turn into a crush or a strong preoccupation, and therapists are used to talking about these feelings without shaming you.

You can bring it up in a session, even if it feels awkward. A good therapist will help you make sense of it while keeping clear professional boundaries; they shouldn’t encourage a romantic or sexual relationship.

If “obsessed” means it’s taking over your thoughts or disrupting your life, that’s useful to tell them too. You don’t have to figure it out alone—or act on the feelings for them to be worth discussing.
