Is it normal to be scared of mirrors?
Depends.It depends
Feeling uneasy around mirrors, especially in the dark or after a scary story, isn’t unusual. If the fear is intense or keeps you from doing ordinary things, it may be worth getting support for it.
Mirrors can feel oddly unsettling: you’re looking at a familiar face that also seems a little separate from you, and dim light or spooky stories can make that feeling stronger. Lots of people get creeped out by mirrors sometimes, even if they aren’t generally afraid of them.
If you’re avoiding mirrors altogether, panicking, or changing your routines because of the fear, that’s more than a passing creep-out. Talking it through with a mental health professional could help; you don’t have to wait until it’s taking over your life.
