Is it normal to drunk text?
Yes, drunk texting is pretty common: alcohol can make you more impulsive and less worried about how a message will land. It’s not automatically a big deal, but repeated messages you regret may be a sign to set some boundaries around drinking and your phone.
You’re not alone. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions, so the “maybe don’t send that” filter can clock out early—especially when you’re lonely, bored, or thinking about someone in particular. People tend to find it funny or relatable when it’s harmless, and less charming if it turns into repeated messages, oversharing, or contacting someone who doesn’t want to hear from you.
If the morning-after cringe is getting old, try muting or blocking your messaging apps for the night, or ask a friend to hold you to a no-texting rule. And if someone has asked for space, stick to that whether you’ve been drinking or not.
