Is it normal to eat your boogers?
Unusual.Less common, but harmless
Lots of people have tried eating their boogers, especially as kids, but it’s not a common adult habit. Doing it occasionally is usually harmless, though most people consider it gross and it’s better to wash your hands instead.
You’re definitely not the only one—kids do it pretty often, and plenty of adults have done it at some point. Your nose traps dust and other particles in mucus, and swallowing mucus that drains down your throat happens naturally all the time.
Actually picking and eating boogers is a different story: it’s generally harmless once in a while, but your fingers can carry germs, and it’s not exactly a crowd-pleaser. If it’s a frequent habit, keeping tissues handy and washing your hands can help.
