Is it normal to hate pictures of yourself?
Yes, it’s pretty common to dislike photos of yourself, even if other people think you look great. Seeing a frozen, unfamiliar version of yourself can feel much harsher than seeing yourself in the mirror.
Lots of people cringe at photos of themselves. You’re used to seeing your face in the mirror, so a photo can look oddly unfamiliar—and a still image can catch an expression or angle you’d never notice in real life. Add a bit of self-consciousness, and it’s easy to zoom in on details everyone else barely notices.
You don’t have to love every photo of yourself. If the dislike is taking over how you feel about your appearance or making you avoid things you’d otherwise enjoy, it may be worth talking it through with someone you trust. But simply thinking “ugh, delete that one” is very ordinary.
