Is it normal to have a smell in your urine?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes—urine can smell stronger because you’re dehydrated, especially first thing in the morning, or after certain foods or vitamins. If the smell sticks around or comes with pain, burning, fever, or blood, get it checked.
A stronger smell now and then is common. Concentrated urine from not drinking much water is a usual culprit, and foods like asparagus, coffee, or some vitamins can change the smell too. Your first pee of the day may be especially strong.
If it’s a persistent new smell, or you also have burning when you pee, pain, fever, or blood in your urine, get it checked—those symptoms can point to an infection or another issue.
