Is it normal to have nightmares while pregnant?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes—nightmares and unusually vivid dreams are common during pregnancy. Changes in sleep, hormones, and the big feelings that come with pregnancy can all play a part.
Pregnancy can make your sleep more interrupted, and you may remember more of your dreams when you wake up during the night. Stress, excitement, and worries about the changes ahead can also show up in dream form. A nightmare doesn’t predict that anything bad will happen.
If the nightmares are regularly keeping you from sleeping or leaving you distressed during the day, it’s reasonable to mention them to your pregnancy care provider. Otherwise, they’re usually a normal, if decidedly unfun, part of pregnancy.
