Is it normal to lie on your CV?

Depends.It depends

It’s common for people to polish a CV, but inventing qualifications or experience is risky and can seriously backfire. Present your real skills confidently without claiming things you can’t back up.

A little CV puffery is pretty common: people emphasize their strongest work, use polished language, or describe informal experience in a more professional way. There’s a line, though, between framing the truth well and making things up.

Inventing a degree, job title, dates, or skills you don’t have can cost you an offer—or your job later if it comes out. It can also put you in the awkward spot of being expected to do something you never actually learned.

A safer move is to describe what you did accomplish clearly, include relevant projects or transferable skills, and be honest about gaps. You don’t have to undersell yourself; just make sure you can comfortably explain every claim in an interview.
