Is it normal to lose romantic feelings in a relationship?
Yes, romantic feelings can fade or change during a relationship, and it doesn’t automatically mean you have to break up. What matters is whether the feelings return, shift into a kind of love you still want, or stay gone in a way that no longer feels right for you.
Romantic feelings aren’t a steady setting. Stress, routine, conflict, or simply getting to know each other better can make the early spark quieter for a while. Lots of people go through patches where they feel less swept up in their partner than they used to.
Sometimes the feelings come back with time, honest conversations, or a change in what’s been making the relationship feel distant. Sometimes they don’t—and that can be a sign the relationship has run its course, not that either of you did something wrong.
You don’t need to force a decision based on one flat week. Give yourself room to notice whether you still want closeness and a future with this person, and talk with them if it feels safe and useful.
