Is it normal to love someone so much it hurts?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes, intense love can come with an ache—especially when you miss someone, feel vulnerable, or worry about losing them. But love shouldn’t routinely leave you feeling unsafe or miserable.
That “it hurts” feeling is a pretty human part of caring deeply. Love can make you feel exposed, and missing someone or worrying about what might happen can turn all that affection into an ache. Lots of people know the feeling, even if they don’t always say it out loud.
Still, pain isn’t proof that a relationship is especially loving or meant to be. If the hurt mostly comes from fear, constant conflict, or feeling like you have to give up who you are, it’s worth paying attention to that—not just romanticizing it.
