Is it normal to obsess over someone?
Getting stuck thinking about someone—especially after a crush, breakup, or intense interaction—is common. It’s worth paying attention if it starts taking over your day or pushes you to ignore their boundaries.
Your brain can latch onto someone and replay conversations, imagine scenarios, or keep checking for messages. That’s especially common when you’re attracted to them, miss them, or don’t know where you stand. It doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.
The line to watch is whether the thoughts are crowding out sleep, work, or other relationships, or leading you to monitor or contact the person in ways they haven’t welcomed. If so, creating some distance—like muting their socials and putting your attention back into your own routines—can help. Their boundaries still matter, even when the feelings are intense.
