Is it normal to regret going to college?
Yes, it’s normal to regret going to college, whether because of the cost, your experience, or feeling like you chose the wrong path. Regret doesn’t mean you can’t make a change or that college was a waste.
A lot of people question college after the fact—or while they’re still in it. Debt, a disappointing program, pressure from family, or realizing you want a different kind of life can all make the choice feel wrong in hindsight.
You can regret parts of the experience without deciding it was all pointless. The skills, friendships, or clearer sense of what you don’t want may still count for something; and if you’re currently enrolled, it’s okay to explore changing majors, taking a break, or leaving. You’re allowed to choose a different route now.
