Is it normal to regret your degree?
Yes, it’s normal to have regrets about your degree, especially when your interests or plans change or the reality of the field doesn’t match what you expected. It doesn’t mean you wasted your time or have to stay on the same career path.
A degree can look like the right choice at 18 or 22 and feel less right once you’ve had more experience. Some people regret the subject, the cost, or the job options; others don’t regret studying it but wish they’d chosen a different route. Plenty of people feel this way at some point, even if they don’t bring it up at parties.
Regret doesn’t have to mean the degree was useless. You may have picked up skills, discovered what you don’t want, or found a way to use it in a different field. You’re allowed to change direction without treating your past choice as a life sentence.
