Is it normal to want attention?
Yes, wanting attention is completely normal. People naturally want to feel noticed, included, and valued; it only becomes a problem if getting attention starts hurting you or other people.
Wanting attention is really just wanting connection and reassurance that you matter. Everybody needs some of that, even people who act like they couldn’t care less. The amount you want can vary depending on your mood, confidence, and what’s going on in your life.
People may have different opinions about how much attention feels comfortable, but the desire itself isn’t selfish or embarrassing. It’s worth reflecting on if you feel compelled to get attention in ways that hurt you or others, or if you feel unable to feel okay without constant reassurance—but simply enjoying being noticed is normal.
