Is it normal to be jealous of your daughter?
Yes, occasional jealousy toward your daughter can happen, and it doesn’t make you a bad parent. What matters is handling the feeling without making her responsible for it or treating her unfairly.
It can happen for lots of reasons: maybe she gets attention you wish you had, has opportunities you didn’t, or reminds you of something you feel you missed out on. A passing pang doesn’t mean you love her any less, and many parents have feelings they’d rather not admit out loud.
Try to notice what the jealousy is pointing to, while keeping it yours to work through. Avoid competing with her, putting her down, or expecting her to comfort you about it. If the feeling is persistent or is affecting how you treat her, talking it through with someone you trust or a counselor could help.
