Is it normal to be lonely after college?
Yes, feeling lonely after college is very common. You’ve gone from having people and plans built into your day to having to create that community yourself, which can take time.
College often supplies a ready-made social life: classmates, roommates, clubs, and familiar routines all in one place. After graduation, friends may move away and everyone’s schedules can get harder to line up, so even a good life can feel surprisingly quiet for a while.
It doesn’t mean you’re bad at making friends or that you’ll feel this way forever. Staying in touch with people you like and finding a regular activity where you see the same faces can help turn occasional chats into real connections. And yes, plenty of people are having the same lonely-after-college experience, even if their social media doesn’t show it.
