Is it normal to be scared of flying for the first time?
Yep.Totally normal
Yes—feeling scared before your first flight is very normal. Flying can feel unfamiliar and out of your control, even when you know it’s a routine way to travel.
Absolutely. When you haven’t flown before, your imagination has a lot of unknowns to fill in: the noises, the takeoff, turbulence, and being thousands of feet in the air. Plenty of first-time flyers feel nervous, and some people who fly often still do.
It may help to learn what to expect, tell your travel companion or a flight attendant you’re nervous, and bring something absorbing to do. You don’t have to pretend you’re relaxed; being scared doesn’t mean you can’t take the flight.
