Is it normal to feel hip thrusts in your quads?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes, it’s fairly common to feel some quad effort during hip thrusts, but your glutes should be doing most of the work. Foot position and setup can make a difference.
A little quad involvement is normal, especially if your feet are too close to your hips or you’re pushing through your toes. Try placing your feet so your shins are roughly vertical at the top, and think about driving through your heels while squeezing your glutes.
If your quads are doing nearly everything, adjust your foot position and lower the weight until you can feel the movement in your glutes. Sharp pain isn’t the same as ordinary muscle effort—stop if you feel that, and get it checked if it persists.
