Is it normal to fight during the talking stage?
A disagreement or awkward clash can happen while you’re getting to know someone, but frequent or heated fights this early are worth paying attention to. How you handle the disagreement matters more than never disagreeing at all.
You’re still figuring out each other’s communication styles, expectations, and boundaries, so a disagreement can happen—even before you’ve defined the relationship. One tense conversation doesn’t automatically mean you’re a bad match.
But if the talking stage already feels like a cycle of arguments, blame, jealousy, or walking on eggshells, that’s useful information. You don’t have to talk yourself into a connection that feels stressful; notice whether both of you can listen, take responsibility, and repair things afterward.
