Is it normal to miss your old life after having a baby?
Yes. You can love your baby and still miss your old routines, freedom, sleep, and sense of yourself—those feelings can exist side by side.
Absolutely. Having a baby can change nearly every part of your day, so it’s common to miss the life you had before: spontaneous plans, quiet time, or simply feeling like your own person. Missing it doesn’t mean you regret your baby or love them any less.
A lot of new parents have mixed feelings, even if they don’t say so out loud. Give yourself room to adjust, and try to get small breaks or time with people who make you feel like you again. If the sadness or anxiety feels intense, sticks around, or makes it hard to manage day to day, talk with someone you trust or a health professional—you deserve support, too.
