Is it normal to think about work all the time?
It’s common for work to follow you home in your thoughts, especially during a busy or stressful stretch. If you can’t switch off even when you want to, or it’s disrupting your sleep or relationships, it may be a sign you need more support or firmer boundaries.
Lots of people replay conversations, plan tomorrow’s tasks, or worry about unfinished work after hours. That doesn’t automatically mean anything is wrong—some jobs are demanding, and brains aren’t great at closing the office tab on command.
But if work thoughts are taking over most of your downtime, keeping you from sleeping, or making it hard to be present with people you care about, pay attention. A clearer stopping routine, writing tomorrow’s tasks down, or talking with a manager or someone you trust may help. You deserve time that isn’t mentally on the clock.
