Is it normal to have nothing in common with your partner?
Yes, couples can have very different interests and still be happy together. What matters more is whether you respect each other, enjoy spending time together, and agree on the big things that shape your life.
It’s normal not to share every hobby, taste, or obsession. One of you can love hiking while the other would rather stay home, and that doesn’t mean the relationship is doomed. Different interests can even give you both room to have your own lives.
But if “nothing in common” also means you rarely enjoy each other’s company, can’t talk easily, or want very different things from life, that’s worth paying attention to. You don’t need to be copies of each other, but some shared values, mutual curiosity, and ways to connect help a relationship feel like a partnership.
