Is it normal to regret adopting a cat?
Mostly.Normal for most people
Yes, it’s normal to have doubts or regret after adopting a cat, especially while you’re adjusting to the new routine. It doesn’t automatically mean you made the wrong choice or won’t bond with your cat.
A new cat can bring surprise expenses, disrupted sleep, messes, and a lot of responsibility. Even people who wanted a pet can feel overwhelmed or miss their old routine at first; the bond may take time to grow, too.
Give yourself and the cat some time to settle in, and ask the shelter or a trusted person for help with any specific challenges. If, after a fair try, you truly can’t provide the care the cat needs, contacting the shelter or a reputable rescue about responsible rehoming is kinder than struggling in silence.
